Building Resilience: A Building Block to Sustainable Success

In the journey towards sustainability and success, resilience stands tall as the fourth building block in my book, PASS-I-ON® 7 Building Blocks to Sustainability and Success. Resilience is not just about bouncing back from adversity; it's about thriving despite challenges, setbacks, and uncertainties. It's the ability to adapt, grow, and flourish in the face of adversity.

Consider this, "Resilience is not merely the capacity to endure adversity but to be transformed by it." I feel this beautifully encapsulates the essence of resilience – it's not just about survival; it's about using challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation.

In today's fast-paced and unpredictable world, cultivating resilience is more important than ever. It's the difference between letting setbacks derail you and using them as stepping stones towards your goals. So, how can we start building resilience in our lives?

Daily Challenge:

Today, challenge yourself to adopt a growth mindset. Embrace the belief that challenges are opportunities for growth rather than insurmountable obstacles. Whenever you encounter a setback or difficulty, ask yourself, "What can I learn from this?" and "How can I grow stronger because of it?"

This daily challenge sets the stage for our next blog post, where we'll delve deeper into the concept of a growth mindset and its role in fostering resilience.

Passion

Passion is a powerful force that can drive us to achieve great things in life. It is the intense feeling of enthusiasm or excitement that we experience when we pursue something that we love or care deeply about. Passion is what motivates us to get out of bed each day and work towards our goals, even in the face of challenges and obstacles.

Passion is not something that we can force or fake. It is a genuine and deeply felt emotion that comes from within us. When we are passionate about something, we feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment that is hard to describe. We are willing to put in the time, effort, and resources needed to pursue our passion, even if it means sacrificing other things in our lives.

Passion can take many forms. Some people are passionate about their careers, others about their hobbies or creative pursuits, and still others about making a positive impact in their communities or the world at large. Whatever form it takes, passion is a driving force that can help us achieve our full potential and live a fulfilling life.

One of the great things about passion is that it can be contagious. When we are passionate about something, we often inspire others to pursue their own passions as well. We can use our enthusiasm and energy to motivate and encourage those around us to follow their dreams and live their best lives.

Of course, passion alone is not enough to achieve success. We also need to have the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to pursue our goals. But when we combine our passion with hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn and grow, we can achieve amazing things.

In conclusion, passion is a powerful force that can drive us to achieve great things in life. It is not something that can be forced or faked, but rather a genuine and deeply felt emotion that comes from within us. When we pursue our passions with enthusiasm and dedication, we can inspire others to do the same and make a positive impact in the world.

Thanksgiving

I Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you

Tradition teaches us that Thanksgiving is a holiday commemorating the feast held by the pilgrims and Native Americans at Plymouth Rock in 1621. Now I could spend a lot of time sharing with you the historical meaning of Thanksgiving, but I'd like to share with you a different perspective.

What Are We Harvesting?

Just for a moment, consider the impact we would make in the world if we could commit ourselves to harvesting souls this Thanksgiving. By this I mean to see this holiday as an opportunity to get people born again.

I have no problem whatsoever with enjoying a big dinner and visiting with friends and family. As a matter of fact, I look forward to it, but what exactly are we celebrating?

I'm not a pilgrim and I wasn't there for the feast at Plymouth Rock. However, I can celebrate the harvest. While I'm sure that God appreciates the thanks and praise we give Him at the dinner table, I am convinced He'd be more pleased with a new harvest of souls.

Far too many people in this world live without understanding or knowledge of the Word of God. And it is our job as Christians to spread the Good News. After all, God's desire is that all become saved (1 Tim. 2:3-4) and experience the abundant life referred to in John 10:10.

First Chronicles 16:8 even says, "Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people." Everyday should be harvest time!

In Luke 10:2, Jesus referred to God as "The Lord of the harvest." He told His disciples, "...the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest."

No Laborers, No Harvest

Based on verses 1-9, we know that Jesus appointed the disciples to go to different places around the world to minister to the people they met. He sent them out because the harvest of people—God's harvest—was great and there was need for laborers to gather them into the kingdom of god.

Therefore, when a person gets saved, they become part of God's harvest. Are you beginning to see where I'm going here?

This holiday is an opportunity to see the burdens removed and the yokes destroyed in the lives of many. But that can only be done through the anointing—the burden-removing, yoke-destroying power of God (Isa. 10:27). John 1:12 says, "... as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."

This scripture is referring to those who believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. As Christians we are to be Christ-like. Well, Christ's primary assignment was to do the will of His Father—save the lost.

Look at what He says here: "As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd" (John 10:15-16).

There are lost sheep in my family and yours. And wouldn't this be a great time to harvest them in?

Seeing the Manifestation

Child of God, the very act of giving thanks to God activates His power in our lives. That's why Psalms 50:14-15 says, "Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me."

In other words, give thanks, turn on the power, and see the manifestation of deliverance. Honey, that's what getting born again is all about - getting delivered from sin, death and everything else that keeps you separated from God.

So, the power of God, activated through giving thanks, is what will draw people to salvation. It will, in essence, manifest the harvest of souls. When you share the gospel—the good news that Jesus is anointed to remove burdens and destroy yokes—lives will be changed. Like a seed, when the Word of God is planted in the heart, it will produce a harvest (Mark 4:8).

As in times past, many people will visit homeless shelters, hospitals and prisons in an effort to minister to lost souls. If you're one of them, make sure that you minister the good news while you're there. But don't allow it to end there. Let every day here out be a soul-winning day.

Child of God, I encourage you to make this holiday different. Celebrate a new beginning in your family traditions. Share the news of Jesus Christ with your family, friends, and neighbors. Dedicate your efforts to God as a seed. Name your harvest. And I assure you the harvest you reap will make a mark in your life that will never be erased! Enjoy good food, good times and fellowship, but remember the assignment—reach the lost!

BLACK BUSINESS MONTH

August is National #Black Business Month, and I wanted to acknowledge the Black-owned businesses across the country as well as my city, (RVA), Richmond, Virginia.

Black business owners account for about 10 percent of U.S. businesses and about 30 percent of all minority-owned businesses. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, that amounts to approximately two million companies owned by African Americans.

🤔 Consider this... approximately two million companies are owned by African Americans. Nearly 40 percent of black-owned businesses are in health care and social assistance, repair and maintenance, and personal and laundry services. Other categories include advertising firms, auto dealerships, consulting services, restaurants, barbershops, beauty salons, and more. That is a great power to have.

New York has the most black-owned businesses in the U.S. followed by Atlanta. The highest ratio of black-owned businesses is in Washington, DC where 28% of all businesses are black-owned. The growth of black-owned franchise businesses has been explosive.

Please support and encourage African American-owned businesses in your community. Learn more about business opportunities for the African American community, not just for #Black Business Month but ongoing.

I try to make a point to support my fellow black-owned businesses locally and even across the country. I agree with Karen Hunter from Urban View. She often speaks of how we are  rebuilding "Black Wall Street" one brick at a time.

"Black Wall Street", I would have loved to have witness and experience that time. What confidence, sense of accomplishment, joy, pride and power they most have had. That was a powerful era in history. 😁😂😇 Unfortunately, the name "Black Wall Street" has been replaced in history and referred to as the Tulsa race massacre which took place on May 31 and June 1 in 1921, when mobs of white residents, some of whom had been appointed as deputies and armed by city officials, attacked Black residents and destroyed homes and businesses of the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 😢😞😠

Additionally, in my city, there is a place called Jackson Ward, which similar to Tulsa, this was a thriving African-American business community in Richmond, Virginia. In the midst of this you would find, the Hippodrome Theater is located in Richmond, Virginia. Thank you Ron Stallings for your vision to restore it and educate us on history. ✊🏾✊🏾

In the early 1900s, the community was filled with Black-owned businesses and creative entrepreneurs. It is situated in the historical African-American neighborhood of Jackson Ward, which was referred to as "The Harlem of the South" during the 1920s.

Shout out to the Jackson Ward Collective that has taken on the responsibility to support current and perspective black-owned in the Jackson Ward area. 😄

6 Ways To Grow In Fаvоur Wіth Bоth Gоd And Man (Building Block #2)

Proverbs 18:6 NKJV says that a manis gift will make room for him, and brings him before great men.

Is there something that you are gifted at? Do you have a passion for anything? Are you a talented public speaker or leader? Do you enjoy working with children or building things?

Everyone has certain talents or God-given gifts that they are skilled in. For example, some people are very hospitable and relatable and know how to make people feel comfortable. Some individuals are talented businesspeople, teachers, musicians or parents.

James 1:17 tells us that every gift is from God. We all have different talents and God-given gifts, but they are all important and can be used for God's Kingdom. When we do this, He grants us favor. Things begin to happen that on all other accounts would seem impossible. Doors begin to open when they have been closed for decades.

I personally believe that I have favour with God. Proverbs 3:4 ESV So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.

Six Ways To Grow In Fаvоur Wіth Bоth Gоd And Man:

1.     Live your lіfе whоlеhеаrtеdlу for Gоd

2.     Gоd іѕ rewarder of thоѕе whо dіlіgеntlу ѕееk Hіm.

3.     Pеrѕеvеrаnсе during thе раіn оf correction, brіngѕ lоng term fаvоur

4.     Use your buѕіnеѕѕ tо dо Gоd’ѕ buѕіnеѕѕ, thеn Gоd mаkеѕ it His buѕіnеѕѕ to bless your buѕіnеѕѕ!

5.     Ask for fаvоur frоm Gоd аnd mаn.

6.     Blеѕѕіng others causes уоu to rеар fаvоur wіth оthеrѕ

BUILDING BLOCK #2

7 Building Blocks to Sustainability and Success begins with faith and is followed by favour.

Fаvоur іѕ dіffеrеnt thаn “Fаvоurѕ”. Fаvоurѕ аrе оftеn actions dеѕіgnеd tо influence, соntrоl, and mаnірulаtе оthеrѕ. This іѕ a very dіffеrеnt thing thаn Divine favour.

Favour is when оthеrѕ, оut оf gооd wіll, seek to benefit уоu. “Hе whо earnestly ѕееkѕ gооd fіndѕ fаvоur” (Prоv 11:25) Dіvіnе fаvоur іѕ whеn Gоd роurѕ out Hіѕ bеnеfіtѕ on you simply bесаuѕе уоur ways hаvе рlеаѕеd Him. (Pѕ 103:2) Whеn a mаn’ѕ ways please the Lоrd He causes even уоur еnеmіеѕ tо fаvоur уоu! (Prov 16:7)

Undеrѕtаndіng thе Place оf Fаvоur іn Suссеѕѕ

Suссеѕѕ іn lіfе іѕ a dіrесt function оf God’s fаvоur. Outѕtаndіng fаvоur іѕ whаt we саll оutѕtаndіng success; hеnсе, favour іѕ a fundаmеntаl rеԛuіrеmеnt іn thе ѕсhооl of оutѕtаndіng ѕuссеѕѕ. The dісtіоnаrу dеfіnеѕ fаvоur as аn асt of kindness, ѕоmеthіng gіvеn аѕ a token of lоvе, аffесtіоn, or rеmеmbrаnсе. Thаt is whу Apostle Pаul соuld bоldlу dесlаrе іn 1 Corinthians 15:10: But bу thе grасе of Gоd I аm what I аm…. Fаvоur delivers to uѕ thоѕе thіngѕ thаt by rіght dоn’t bеlоng to uѕ but which God bring оur wау juѕt tо рrоvе thаt we are іn fаvоur wіth Hіm. Fоr instance, Jоѕерh had fаvоur with hіѕ fаthеr.

Hе was thе only сhіld Jасоb mаdе a соаt оf mаnу соlоurѕ fоr. Hіѕ fаthеr fаvоurеd him ѕо muсh thаt hе became the еnvу оf hіѕ brothers. Every оutѕtаndіng ассоmрlіѕhmеnt in life іѕ trасеаblе to the flоw of fаvоur.
